Today we had a tour of Ephesus. The driver was punctual and polite. The car was very clear. As we were 4 women travelling we felt very safe. The guide Atilla was most kind + informative. We enjoyed his company immensely. We would highly recommend both driver and guide.

ISTANBUL; Very much enjoyed our tour with Dundar in Istanbul. Since we had already visited Topkapi Palace, we were able to spend extra time at other sights. Dundar was extremely knowledgeable and took plenty of time to give us historical background. The van and driver was very nice and exceeded our expectation.
EPHESUS: We were fascinated by our visit to Ephesus. Our tour guide was able to get us into the terrace houses before the crowds arrived and helped us better understand the sights. Both he and the driver were very pleasant and professional. The lunch was delicious. We very much enjoyed both of our days in Turkey.

We had a wonderful time on our 2 day trip in Ephesus and Pamukkale. The itinerary was well-thought out and at the right wonderful pace. Our guide was very knowledgeable in the archaeological sites with his extensive history knowledge and good English language. Our driver was very safe and friendly. The feedback would be for the 6-seater ran to rearrange the front row seats to face the front instead of facing each other for such a long road trip.

We toured Ephesus, including the Terrace Houses, the House of Virgin Mary, St. John the Evangelist's Basilica as well as the Artemis Temple.

In October 2010 I co-led a group of 18 people from four cities in the USA on a pilgrimage in Turkey to explore "Ancient Echoes for Modern Pilgrims." We traveled in four regions of this beautiful country, and visited the following cities during our tour: Şanlıurfa (Urfa), Antakya, Tarsus, Cappadocia, Kayseri, Izmir, Kuşadası, Ephesus, Pergamon, Bursa, Nicaea and Istanbul. All arrangements were made through the auspices of Magical Steps Travel located in Izmir ( http://www.magical-steps.com ). Although our budget was modest, the Magical Steps staff exceeded every expectation. Their approach is warmly personal, and they did everything they could to accommodate our wishes. We had the good fortune to work with two guides provided through this agency. Behlül Dündar Satılmış was an archeologist and Süleyman Tıraşoğlu was a teacher prior to becoming guides. Their knowledge of Turkey is deep and far-ranging. Their attitude was helpful and respectful. Their command of English is impecable. Ditto for the Magical Steps staff who took a personal interest in our group every step of the way.
Ours was a spiritual journey. Most of us are members of United Church of Christ congregations in America. We were interested in listening for women's voices from the early church and exploring the Wisdom tradition of Christian spirituality. In addition we wanted to know more about recent scholarship regarding Saint Paul. We wanted to engage in interfaith dialogue in this Muslim culture, visit UCC-related schools and ministries and interact with Turkish people in ordinary settings. A tall order for any agency! But Magical Steps more than accommodated us. We even managed to attend an engagement party and a bachelor's party!
I have led other groups in Turkey, Spain and Morocco. I have worked with other travel agencies. I believe the advice we received from Magical Steps was always appropriate to our concerns. We chose four-star hotels whever possible and these were mostly Turkish. They were modest but well-located, with excellent service, accommodations and food. Travel within Turkey whether by air or bus was always comfortable, and we learned a great deal about the history, agriculture, industry, customs and practices of the people.
